Moms are super busy. And a lot of us drink A LOT of coffee, tea, Diet Coke, red wine, whatever it takes to get us through the day. I need just as much caffeine to chase after my toddler now than I did with a newborn who woke every 45 minutes all night. One thing I do not need however, is coffee stained teeth.
And as a mom who stays home with her little one, I don’t really have the flexibility to schedule appointments (let’s be honest, hiring a babysitter just to get your hair did doesn’t seem worth it). It’s tricky enough to get in necessary appointments like the dentist or doctor, so more frivolous things like my nails, hair, skin, or teeth whitening take a backseat. I still like to have my nails done, so I do my own gel manis at home, and my mom sometimes gives me a quick trim so I don’t have to go to the salon as often, facials just don’t happen (Mother’s Day, Wyatt?!), and until now I’ve been relying on whitening toothpaste and Crest White Strips to keep my smile looking fresh.
A few weeks ago, Smile Brilliant reached out to see if I wanted to try their product and I was intrigued. To start to Smile Brilliant process, I used the super easy kit to make my own dental impressions and mailed them back to a lab…all packaging and postage is included, they make it as easy as possible! They created my custom-fitted whitening trays that I received about a week later. They fit perfectly on my own teeth, I just put the whitening gel on them and pop them on my teeth for anywhere between 45 minutes-3 hours! I can whiten anytime I want in my own home and the trays are (in my opinion) 1000 times better than whitening strips if you’ve ever used those. They don’t slide around, they don’t feel ridiculous, and they are actually made for my teeth so they’re comfortable, I literally forget I have them on. With any other teeth whitening system I’ve tried, my teeth get super sensitive during the process. It’s uncomfortable to even drink all my drinks that stain my teeth in the first place! (I guess you could see that as a good thing, but no.) With this system I haven’t felt ANY sensitivity (for reals), this kit came with a desensitizing gel that I use for a few minutes after each whitening sesh and it works wonders!
My teeth are whiter than they’ve ever been, my dentist even commented on how white they are. This stuff actually works. I love that I can whiten on my own time, in my own home, and that I now have these trays fitted for my own teeth that I can continue to use forever. I still have plenty of gel left for touch ups in my original package, but I can continue to buy the whitening gel for a fraction of the cost that a professional service would cost me, and the results and benefits of this system versus similar “strip” systems are SO much better! Just the thought of sensitive teeth gives me the chills!
As a mom, sometimes it’s hard to take time for myself. Scheduling a personal appearance appointment while my baby is awake and my husband isn’t home feels selfish now. Gone are the days of a casual nail appointment after work, but I think it’s so important for moms to take time for themselves, whether it’s to do a face mask, read a book, or just have a glass of wine on a Wednesday. Luckily, I can whiten my teeth while I do ALL of those at once, aside from drinking wine, that will have to come before or after…but you get it. (Another added benefit is I usually try to whiten at night and that’s the time of day I usually have a snacking problem, so it’s helped me not mindlessly nosh while I blog or watch tv! Wahoo!)
