I’ll be 22 weeks along this weekend and we still don’t know Baby Hughes #2’s gender. We had our anatomy scan at 18 weeks and had the doctor write down the baby’s gender on a few pieces of paper that she sealed up tight. We’re planning a gender reveal party for this Saturday, over three weeks after our scan. It was super tricky the first week, but we have NOT peeked. And ever since I’ve been planning the actual party, I’ve just been too excited to find out at the reveal than by peeking so it’s been less of a temptation. (I hid the envelopes from Tim because he wanted to know even more than I did and he was not to be trusted around them! I was proud of him for not peeking during the scan though.)

We’re working with a few amazing companies to do the actual reveal: Poof There It Is and Brimmer Boys. I snail mailed them each an envelope that the doctor sealed up with the gender inside so I wouldn’t have to look to email them or have someone else look. (I had the doctor do 3 different envelopes: two with the written gender and one with an ultrasound picture showing the gender.) For the past 5 months I’ve been pregnant, I’ve been wondering what this little peanut was growing inside of me. At first, I didn’t have any strong feelings either way, but now I’m like convinced it’s a boy. Here are my reasons: I had a dream it was a boy, every time I see it on an ultrasound I just think it’s a mini Wyatt- it crossed it’s leg’s at the ankles like Wyatt likes to do all the time, and I just feel like it’s a boy. So none of those are REAL reasons, but it’s just what my gut says and it could be totally off…on he other hand, so many of the old wives’ tales indicate it would be a girl, including me being much more sick this round than I was with Wyatt. (Wyatt is also convinced it’s a “sister.”) So obviously I really don’t know and am SO excited to find out on Saturday what this little nugget is!
