My Top 5 Casual Sneakers

0

Living in the city I walk EVERYWHERE. No car means the stroller is our only set of wheels, so getting anywhere means that it’s by foot. On most days I love not having a car, it’s so easy to pop Wyatt in the stroller and be out the door, but sometimes after walking up and down the city, my feet are not so pleased. In the summer I love, love wearing sandals…I idiotically wear them everywhere when it’s warm. Last weekend you could find me in my sandals hobbling to the subway in the East Village after exploring for 8 miles around the city, and my feet basically falling off. All the while, trying not to complaining to Tim because I knew I’d get the lecture about my footwear choice…boys just don’t get it.

Luckily, fall is coming. Living in SF for a few years taught me a thing or two about good fall footwear…it’s more or less fall temps all year there, perfect for booties year round (awesome.) But since we didn’t have a car there either, I also needed shoes that I could essentially climb mountains in on a daily basis, (for real those hills are no joke), and I was doing about 10k steps everyday while teaching as well. So since I wouldn’t be caught dead in hiking boots, and I don’t love wearing athletic sneakers unless I’m working out (or thinking about working out wearing athleisure) I found myself wearing a lot of slip-on sneaks. Below are my top 5 picks for casual slip on sneakers that won’t compromise style for comfort that I’ll be making the transition to fall weather wearing!

1. Joie Kidmore

Available in Dusty Sand and Black. $76-190 (scoop up a sale pair- linked below!)

Hands down my favorite sneaker. Ever. I own them in both dusty sand and in black, the crock embossed leather is to die…it really is a beautiful shoe. I also love that they have a thin sole that you can’t often find in a fashion sneak. It does take a little bit of effort to break these bad boys in, but it’s worth it, believe me! I usually wear no show socks like these with them.

2. Dolce Vita Xai High Tops

Available in Gray, Blush, Taupe and Navy. $45-$130
I have these in taupe and they are literally SO comfortable. They slip on easily and are perfect to wear with cropped or cuffed skinnies. This subtle high top makes me feel like a #coolmom and the suede material is perfect for the fall. There are perforated and non-perforated styles in a variety of colors. Again, as with basically all of my non-athletic sneakers I wear no-show socks.

3. Vince Blair 5

Available in Beige, Black, White & Woodsmoke. $125-$195
This shoe is super cute and easy to wear. The elastic makes for an easy slip-on, slip-off (nice for all of those no-shoes baby classes!). They’re a little bit on the pricey side when not on sale, but they look sharp and will last. I’ve beaten mine up quite a bit and they still look amaze.

4. Steve Madden Ecntrcv & Ecentrcq

Available in Black, Gray, White, Blush + Burgundy. $42-$60

These two have a similar profile, but the Ecntrcv’s exterior is velvet and the Ecntrcq’s is quilted faux-leather. Both pairs transition nicely into the fall- quilted jackets on a blustery day, and now quilted shoes…and the burgundy velvet just screams pumpkin spice latte on a crisp Saturday morning, am I right?!

5. Converse Chuck Taylors

Available in tons of colors. Usually right around $50
Alright and last, but certainly not least, a classic standby that always looks great with jeans and a tee…chucks. I have spent many a day teaching preschool in these babies, and one great thing about them is you can throw them in the wash and they’ll come out almost as fresh as they day you got them. There are endless colors and styles…I like the classic low top whites the best.

Below I linked a few other slip on sneaks that I don’t have, but are super cute…some of them might need to make their way into my closet- shhhh!
