Preschool Social Distancing Schedule & Activities

0

Due to Coronavirus, school has been cancelled for us for at least the next two weeks AND we are avoiding playdates, grandparent visits, organized activities, and the playground to practice social distancing effectively, so we need to fill our time purposefully or we are all going to lose it!

As a former elementary and preschool teacher, I know kids thrive on routine and consistency. If you’re home with your children who are normally at school, having some sort of a daily schedule will keep everyone sane, no matter their age! I’m not going to pretend we won’t have days we stay in our PJs all day, or have hours of screen time, but a little thought into some meaningful activities and to-dos will help us get through this time!

I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old, so depending on the age of your children, you might want to adapt it to fit your needs…the information in here is geared mostly towards preschoolers.

Here’s our general schedule we’ll try to follow:

Here’s my printout I will use so we can plan each week out. It can be filled out as much or as little as you want, jotting down notes about meals, who you want your child to FaceTime with, and what activities and chores you want to accomplish in a week or given day.

Here is a list of activities I’ve complied for each “learning block” and activity time. Some activities listed can be found on my Pinterest board “Preschool Activities” Pinterest is an excellent resource at a time like this!

I’ll continue to add to this Pinterest board as I come across fun & easy activities! My goal is to keep kids engaged with meaningful, intentional, fun activities with as little prep for the parent as possible!

A lot of educational apps are offering their services for free during this time so keep your eye out for those!

Good luck out there, parents! You can do it!
